Trump's Envoys in Middle East to Push for Gaza Peace Plan

Trump's envoys Kushner and Mladenov met Egyptian, Qatari, and Turkish mediators in Cairo, with Hamas officials present, and were due to meet Netanyahu on Aug. 17 — days after Netanyahu called Trump's latest roadmap ‘unacceptable.’ Trump's July ‘breakthrough’ claim covered agreement to a framework only: Hamas says implementation depends on Israel withdrawing forces, while Israel is resisting a U.S. demand to stop targeting Hamas commanders. Strikes have resumed in the meantime, and Gaza's death toll has passed 1,250 since October.
