Vatican: Pope Moving Forward With Latin America Trip

The Vatican confirmed Pope Leo's trip to Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru will proceed as planned from Nov. 6 to 17. The announcement signals the 71-year-old pope is recovering on track from Oct. 13 surgery that removed part of his right lung and diagnosed lung cancer. The 10-city tour will cover some 19,300 miles with 36 speeches, one of the most intense papal trips in decades. Leo is resuming duties gradually but canceled a visit to Assisi on his doctor's advice.
