It's Election Day. Control of Congress is on the line, and what else you need to know

It is Election Day in the 2026 midterms, with House and Senate control at stake. More than 59 million people voted early, where Democrats hold a double-digit advantage, but Republicans vote heavily in person today. Democrats are favored to flip the House, while the Senate outcome is uncertain and depends on Republican turnout. Results begin at 6 p.m. ET, and counts in close races may take days or weeks.
