Trump's Navy has said this before. He made nearly the same "all mines removed or detonated" claim last week, and the UK-run Joint Maritime Information Centre (JMIC) responded in its August 20 advisory that mine danger areas in and near the traffic separation scheme remained active, warning of drifting or uncharted mines despite the all-clear. Attacks on shipping haven't stopped either — a rocket strike killed a seafarer aboard the bulker Minoan Dignity on August 17, and multiple cargo ships have taken fire in the strait since Iran closed it to shipping earlier this year.
The traffic numbers tell their own story: oil transits through Hormuz were running around 5 million barrels a day on Monday, per shiptracker Vortexa, down from more than 20 million before the war — normally about one in five barrels consumed worldwide. That's not what a fully cleared, "every square inch" monitored waterway looks like.
The "Pickaxe Mountain" reference is to Iran's deeply buried nuclear site, which Trump earlier this month said the US had called off planned strikes on — not destroyed, unlike the "three other Nuclear sites" he says were already hit. Worth noting he's folding a paused-strike site into the same sentence as ones he claims are already destroyed.
