Loomer's original post, from earlier this month on X, doesn't cite any specific incident, tip, or seizure. Instead she reasons from history: because Muhammad's mosque in Medina served as a military base after the Hijra in 622 CE, she argues mosques function as command centers today. That's a claim about a single 7th-century building extended, without evidence, to thousands of present-day mosques in the US.
Similar claims have surfaced before and not held up. In 2017, a story claimed Trump ordered a raid on the Muslim community of Islamberg, NY that turned up weapons; the FBI said no such raid occurred. In India, photos claiming to show weapons seized from a mosque were traced back to an unrelated kirpan factory. And when mosques have actually drawn FBI attention, as in Sacramento in 2005, the surveillance followed tips about specific individuals; agents said at the time they weren't targeting mosques as a category.
